Sara and I studied together at the University of Chicago MFA program, and founded Material Exchange in 2005, shortly after I graduated, and worked under that name with other contributors through 2009. We then shifted to only working together, as a way to broaden our interests, and experiment with ideas and projects that were difficult with a larger group. We worked together until 2010.
